Florence: Jermaine Tillman, 30

Jermaine Tillman, a 30-year-old black man, died after he was taken off life support Thursday, Nov. 12, five days after he was shot while walking out of a market at 701 East Manchester Avenue in Florence, authorities said.

Los Angeles Police Det. Carlos Velasquez said Tillman was shot about 7 p.m. on Nov. 7. The suspect, whom witnesses described as a black man driving a light-colored four-door sedan, has not been identified and is at large, Velasquez said.

Tillman was shot in the neck and taken to the hospital, where he remained on life support until his death. Though Tillman was not a documented gang member, Velasquez said his death being investigated as a gang killing because of the manner and location of the shooting.
