Readers can no longer post new comments on this site, but we encourage you to join the conversation on our new site. The updated Homicide Report features an interactive map and searchable database of the more than 2,600 homicides in L.A. County since January 2007, when Times' reporter Jill Leovy first started this blog with the goal of covering each one.

The shooting was reported about 11:20 p.m., said Deputy Aura Sierra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Acosta got into a fight at a party with a man between 17 and 21 years old, authorities said.

The man drew a handgun, shot Acosta in the upper torso and fled, Sierra said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, coroner's officials said.

Sheriff'sinvestigators were interviewing partygoers to obtain information about the gunman. About 75 people were at the party.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Sheriff's Department's homicide squad at (323) 890-5500. Callers can remain anonymous.

I bet not one of the 75 people at the party saw anything. Or so they will claim.

"not one... saw anything", because either the deceased man's homeboys will take the law into their own hands (bad) or the witness are scared they will suffer retaliation from the killers' homeboys(very bad). Its not like on CSI when all you need is a 1cm piece of fiber to catch someone.

LV, all it takes is an anonymous tip to the detectives, and then the ball starts rolling.

REST IN PARADISE YUCK

Was this gang related? What is a 15 year old doing at a party? Why even pick a fight nowadays you will get killed no ifs and buts very sad.
