Readers can no longer post new comments on this site, but we encourage you to join the conversation on our new site. The updated Homicide Report features an interactive map and searchable database of the more than 2,600 homicides in L.A. County since January 2007, when Times' reporter Jill Leovy first started this blog with the goal of covering each one.
Comments prior to Jan. 26 will, at least for now, remain archived here, with links provided in the new database.

Juan Segura-Ramirez, a 27-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, after he was shot in the 1500 block of East Lomita Boulevard in Wilmington, authorities said.
Segura-Ramirez was shot in a double homicide that also killed Francisco Estrada, a 44-year-old Latino.
Authorities said one of the men was sitting in a parked car when the shooter fired off several shots. The other man was standing about 80 yards away and was hit by a stray bullet. Police would not say which man was in the car and which was standing.
Authorities said neither man was a gang member. Both men died at the scene.
