Walnut Park: Michelle Velazquez, 26

Michelle Velazquez, a 26-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Friday, Oct. 16, in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue in Walnut Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.

Deputies were called to the scene at 1:10 a.m. and found two gunshot victims, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana. Velazquez was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown.

Homicide detectives were trying to determine why the two were shot, Saldana said.
