On Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, The Times launched a new version of the Homicide Report. You have arrived at the old blog.

Readers can no longer post new comments on this site, but we encourage you to join the conversation on our new site. The updated Homicide Report features an interactive map and searchable database of the more than 2,600 homicides in L.A. County since January 2007, when Times' reporter Jill Leovy first started this blog with the goal of covering each one.

Comments prior to Jan. 26 will, at least for now, remain archived here, with links provided in the new database.

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail homicidereport@latimes.com, and we will do our best to respond.

Mikes was found in the carport of an apartment building  about 10:44 p.m. after Inglewood police received a shots fired call, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inglewood Det. Jack Aranda said there were few witnesses to the shooting, but he did have a potential lead on the case.

Aranda said he was still investigating the motive in the killing. A news release from the Inglewood Police Department called the killing gang-related, but Aranda said it also could have stemmed from a dispute.

I really can't believe my brother is gone. It's been 3 months and 3days since he was killed and no arrest have been made. Please If anyone knows anything let the police know so they can make an arrest and put my big brothers killer behind bars. Please help and give us some kind of peace.
