Inglewood: Cory Smith, 29

Cory Smith, a 29-year-old black man, died Thursday, Oct. 1, after he was shot at Arbor Vitae Street and 10th Avenue in Inglewood, authorities said.

Smith was standing on the sidewalk near a parked car when several people approached him and one or more people shot him several times, police said.

Smith was shot just before midnight Sept. 30 and was pronounced dead at the scene seven minutes after midnight, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the L.A. County coroner’s office.
