Lawrence Crosby, a 50-year-old black man, died Monday, Sept. 7, of an unknown cause, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

He was found dead in the back of an alley in the 5900 block of South Mettler Ave. in Florence at 11:42 a.m. An initial coroner's investigation showed no obvious trauma, and Crosby's cause of death has been deferred pending additional tests, coroner's officials said.
