Readers can no longer post new comments on this site, but we encourage you to join the conversation on our new site. The updated Homicide Report features an interactive map and searchable database of the more than 2,600 homicides in L.A. County since January 2007, when Times' reporter Jill Leovy first started this blog with the goal of covering each one.

Comments prior to Jan. 26 will, at least for now, remain archived here, with links provided in the new database.

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail homicidereport@latimes.com, and we will do our best to respond.

I lived in Lancaster in 1998 working construction in Lebec. I never remember being concerned about violence and such. I used to ride my bicycle to the Metrolink on weekends, without a care. Yet this list shows 3 killings in Palmdale, and one in Lancaster. In a week. What has the area become? North Tijuana? This is very bad....

My condolences to the Eteuati family. Me and my family will keep you guys in our prayers

It is to late for these people and there crimes may not be solved. We need to take DNA at birth, which may help, people would think twice before comitting these crimes. They are taking DNA from hardened criminals that are incarcirated take it one step further and take it at birth.

Doogie, over the past decade, a large number of "low life's" have moved into Palmdale and Lancaster, so as to get away from the violence in south and east Los Angeles.

But what they've done is taking their ghetto lifestyle and bringing it into new areas.

There's truth in the old saying "you can take the thug out of the ghetto, but you cant take the ghetto out of the thug".

I've just analysed this raw data on my blog: http://bit.ly/GJGok

What a shame some use our place on earth only to kill others, as they then tragically lose their 'life' as well. The 'victim' is only one of potentially hundreds of people affected. All victims of violent crime should be acknowledged, including the family of the convicted. It can't be any easier to hear, "Your son is: a rapist, murderer, OR dead.

When you tear a piece of paper, it is now torn. You can tape it, but it is still torn.

We cannot change what is broken; we have to start over again.

Starting over begins at home, then at school.

If you have been affected by violent crime, speak out. Pull the gangs apart, and don't simply pull them apart, arrest and convict as many as you can, then at some point they will realize what really matters and who really cares.
