On Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, The Times launched a new version of the Homicide Report. You have arrived at the old blog.

Readers can no longer post new comments on this site, but we encourage you to join the conversation on our new site. The updated Homicide Report features an interactive map and searchable database of the more than 2,600 homicides in L.A. County since January 2007, when Times' reporter Jill Leovy first started this blog with the goal of covering each one.

Comments prior to Jan. 26 will, at least for now, remain archived here, with links provided in the new database.

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail homicidereport@latimes.com, and we will do our best to respond.

Torrance: Torie Anderson, 32 [Updated]

August 6, 2009 |  9:22 pm
Torie Anderson, a 32-year-old white woman, died in her home in Torrance on Monday, Aug.3, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Anderson was found dead inside her house in the 2400 block of 227th Street in Torrance.  The circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated, but she was found by a family member who went to her house to check on her, said Craig Harvey, chief coroner investigator.

Harvey did not know what her specific injuries were, but he said she was found at 1:15 p.m. with "trauma."

[Updated at 11:51 a.m. August 13: Coroner's officials said today that a final determination in Anderson's cause of death has not yet been made. Homicide has not been ruled out. Coroner's officials said they are waiting for the results of tests conducted during her autopsy and a ruling is likely six to eight weeks away.]

I don't understand why you have Torie listed here. There has been no official report that it was a homicide. So far, it looks like a tragic accident.
RIP Torie. We all miss you very much!

Torie Anderson was included in the report because she was listed as a homicide in the data provided each week by the Los Angeles County coroner's office. We will follow up on the case to see if they ultimately change that assessment.

Could you please advise if there have been any updates in the investigation? There are rumors that they do not consider it a homicide. Possibly an accidental fall. Do you know if there is any confirmation yet? Do we know if the scene of the incident can shed any light on the situation?
