Long Beach: Jacob Benavidez, 15

Jacob Benavidez, a 15-year-old Latino, was shot several times in the 1000 block of East 16th Street in Long Beach and died on Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.

Benavidez, of Long Beach, was standing on the sidewalk at 12:34 a.m., when someone walked up and shot him, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office. Benavidez was taken to a hospital, where he died at 1:08 a.m.
