La Puente: Steve Ontiveros, 34

Steve Ontiveros, a 34-year-old Latino, was shot in the torso and died on July 12 in the 700 block of North Tamar Drive in La Puente, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Ontiveros was standing in his frontyard when two men went up to him and fired several shots. The men then fled, running north on Tamar Drive, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. 

Ontiveros was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about this killing is asked to call the Los Angeles Sherif's Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
