South Gate: Woman, 45, slashed in throat

Maria Ramirez, a 45-year-old Latina, died after her throat was slashed on Saturday, April 11, 2009, in the 4200 block of Missouri Avenue in South Gate, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Fernando Arriaga, 31, was arrested later that day in connection with Ramirez’s killing, and has been charged with murder, officials said.

Arriaga is being held on $1,020,000 bail, and his plea and arraignment have been scheduled for May 5.
