Long Beach: Man, 26, shot

Dererall Philian, a 26-year-old black man, died of a gunshot wound to the head on Saturday, March 7, 2009, in the 2400 block of Cedar Avenue in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Philian, a resident of Long Beach, was found about 2:20 a.m. Police had responded to reports of shots fired.
Homicide detectives are trying to determine a motive. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives Mark McGuire or Hugo Cortez at (562) 570-7244. Callers can remain anonymous.
