Hollywood: Man, 46, shot

Gerardo Ramos, a 46-year-old Latino, died of multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in the 7500 block of Fountain Avenue in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Nattie Kennebrew Jr., an 82-year-old Hollywood man, was charged with murder. He denied shooting Ramos.

Authorities said Ramos, an apartment building handyman, was repairing Kennebrew’s sink when he was shot. Ramos had worked in the apartment two weeks before, and authorities said he had an appointment to do the sink repair.

Kennebrew also attempted to assault several other people in the building when they went to the apartment, officials said.
