William Stanford Workman III, a 24-year-old black man, died after being shot in the back at Elm Street and Poinsettia Avenue at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.
No further details were available from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

This young man stayed across the street from me and my family. He was very ruly and kept to himself in the neighborhood. You hardly knew he was there. It is very unnerving that a person who keeps to himself is also cut down. The family of William will remain in our prayers for strength and peace. God bless you.
