Industry: Man, 38, is killed in shooting

Oscar_torres Oscar Torres, a 38-year-old Latino man, died in a shooting in the 2200 block of Mardel Avenue at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5.

Authorities were asking for the public’s help in finding the gunman, who also critically wounded another man, said Deputy Oscar Butao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The victims were involved in argument with a man who produced a gun and shot them both several times, Butao said. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

This is so sad to hear. Oscar was a nice a person. I feel sad for his family. I haven't spoken to Oscar in years. Oscar was a good friend of mine and I had fun talking to him. Oscar will be missed this I know for sure. God bless his family and friends. People just need to behave. We need to have compassion for others. Especially if we don't know them.

Don't tolerate crime
Don't have kids you can't provide a good life to.
Don't whine
Fix it.

Being in a gang is not cool - its stupid.

Parent's it is your responsibility your kids turn out they way they do.

sorry Kim but black on brown? i think u have this all wrong u have no information that this was racial and since when is this stuff black on brown... its more brown on brown and black on black if anything...with isolated incident of racial attacks.... u need to be more responsible with your comments... all these gangsters need to quit... but u cant assign blame to one race.... we are all responsible....

It's terrible when a person cannot have a arguement and walk away, it has to lead to gun violence. In this day and time it's best not to even say anything to another person if he/she is wrong or you don't agree. In today's society people become angry if you cut then off on the highway accidently, your not able to just look at someone without them responding negatively with "what they lookin at". This is terrible times we live in. Gangs have taken over, racism is on the rise (black on brown). and we're unsafe to take a simple walk in our nieghborhood without the fear of being attacked or murdered. We need to become more involved as citizens and report crimes that we see, know about, or even over heard someone talking about. Forget about that label "snitch" we need to start standing up to clean up our nieghborhoods, out of fear we know it's hard but it has to start somewhere to help the communities and make things better for our children our grandparents and ourselves.
