August 7, 2008 |  8:00 pm

Patrick Grigsby, 28, was killed about 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, in a drive-by shooting in the 300 block of West 73rd Street in South-Central L.A.

The Grigsby and two other black men were standing outside a residence when a white sport utility vehicle pulled up. Someone inside the SUV began firing at them, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's media relations office. She said Grigsby was shot in the chest and leg. He was taken by ambulance to California Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The other men were shot in the leg and treated at the scene. The suspect was described only as a black man.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the LAPD's 77th Street Division homicide detectives at (213) 485-4175.

You're allowed to say south central now Reuben? What's going on?

YOU WILL BE MISSED

Is there any type of community activist group, that we as Black and Latino parents can join? We must stop this senseless violence. It is no one else problem but our on. Only we can save our children. It's our responsibility as parents.

South-Central has NEVER been an official name for the part of Los Angeles south of downtown. Many people just lump everything that happens south of the 10 as South LA or South-Central. A little under ten years ago, many community residents worked very hard to have these areas named, just like their San Fernando Valley counterparts. Members of the community worked hard for these names. It's up to the police, media and residents to embrace them.

This was my lil relative father and I feel for her in this situation because she don't really know whats going on and have to be forced to deal with something so hurtful. We lost touch due to drama but I still feel kind of sad that this has happen to you. I will comfort your child (my honey) and pray for your family.
God Bless

the black male was named patrick grigsby a father of 2. a12 yr old daughter and a 10 mon. old baby boy

Carolyn. Try starting this Novemebr during election day.

Look at all of the people you will vote for and ask yourself ..."what have these people done to improve the schools, community and business's of my city"?

Community Group? Go knock on your neighbor's door. Talk it around and get a union formed. The reason they die is because their own family don't take the next step. Everybody says they would do anything to bring their loved one back. But the next day they still just sit on their butts and watch the little brothers AND sisters walk out the door to go cruising and banging. You want the benefit, you got to do the work.

I LOVE $ MISS YOU DADDY
