Kyree McCray, 28

August 19, 2008 |  4:00 pm

Kyree McCray, 28, a black man, was shot during dispute at a children's football game at Reseda Recreation Center in Reseda at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. Initially police reported the mans age as 25, then 40, but the Los Angeles County Coroner's office said he was 28 years of age.

Deputy Chief Michel Moore of the LAPD's Operations-Valley Bureau said at a news conference Saturday afternoon that McCray was attending a football game at the park at Reseda and Victory boulevards, when he was involved in an argument with a group of people. Spectators told McCray and the group to leave the game. Shortly after, McCray was shot. Authorities said he was taken to Northridge Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. New_picture

A second man also was struck by gunfire and taken to a nearby hospital. He was described only as a 20-year-old black man. "We are hopeful that he survives from his injuries," Moore said. The relationship of the two men was unknown, authorities said.

A day after the shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department sought the public's help in locating Andrew Lee Thomas Jr., 20, pictured right. Police described Thomas Jr. as a black man, stands at 5 feet, 8 inches and weighs about 150 pounds. Police said Thomas Jr. is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call West Valley homicide detectives at (818) 374-7730. Callers can remain anonymous.

IMy parents used to take me to Reseda park. Things change, I would not take my own children there, it is not a safe place.
I and my family will be leaving LA for good by years end. This used to be a good place for kids and a good place to live, but not any more.
In LA you are either wealthy living in a gated community and sending your kids to Harvard/westlake or Buckley so they will have a chance to be themselves and not come home in a body back, or you are poor and take you chances everyday on the streets. There is no place of a middle class in LA anymore.

that was my friend that somebody killed i hope that they find the person who did this and put them under the jail. he was a people person he loved the kids. i always enjoyed his company when his around, when he isn't around and i found out were he's at i am there. i will miss him his laughter his smile his slang of talk just his movement i will never forget. it will always be a place in my heart for him and his family. i love u and will never forget about u. bh

Seriously, is it not safe anywhere?

KYREE WAS A FUN PERSON TO BE AROUND. HE HAD A KIND HEART,AND BELIEVE ME HE WAS LOVED BY MANY PEOPLE AND WILL BE LOVED IN OUR HEART.HOW COULD SOMEONE DO THIS IN FRONT OF A GAIN OF KIDS. GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY.I KNOW UR UP THE WITH GOD. WE LOVE AND MISS U.AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS!!!!!!!!!

"Blood" will be missed by many. Much love to his family and Kids. I will keep you all in my prayer.

SOMEONE I KNOW, KNEW HIM. EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT KNOW THIS MAN PERSONALLY, I PRAY AND FEEL FOR HIS CHILDREN. FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN THE PRESENCE OF CHILDREN IS SO SAD. PEOPLE NEED TO STOP THE WAR BETWEEN COLORS AND COME TOGETHER AS INDIVIDUALS.

Capo, my young brother i can see by the way you have posted your message here on the board that you know a little something about what happened was you there you are talking about 2 lives that are gone forever one in death and the other with life in jail when he is caught so please when you say disrespected was it worth him killing a man over it i dont think so and if you do think so i hope that when you think you are being disrespected that you dont kill anyone think first because very soon andrew will learn in jail that the homies and the gang will still be on the streets and they will soon forget him and he will be in jail for the rest of his life and only then will he realize that he did it for nothing he will realize he wasted his life i hope you send him some packages wanna be gangsta and you dont make the same mistake
