Genaro Ochoa, 18

Genaro Ochoa, 18, a young Latino, was shot at Canel Avenue and Hill Street in Long Beach 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Long Beach Police said Ochoa and his friends were standing outside a home when a man approached them. The man then pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the group. Ochoa was fatally struck in the chest. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 17-year-old was also struck by gunfire, and was taken to a local hospital, where he is still recovering, authorities said. There was no description of a suspect.
