Jose Espinosa Rodriguez, 38

Jose Espinosa Rodriguez, 38, a Latino man, was killed from a gang shooting in the 400 block of South Cliveden Avenue in Compton about 9:45 p.m., Friday, July 4.  Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

According to Det. Frank Salerno of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, Rodriguez was returning home when he was caught in a crossfire between two rival gangs. Salerno said Rodriguez was only a few blocks from his home when he was hit by gunfire. He said Rodriguez lived with a roommate and had no family members in the U.S. All Rodriguez's family lives in Mexico, Salerno said.
