Compton gang sweep
More than 200 state and local police officers served more than 30 search and arrest warrants during a gang sweep in Compton this morning. The raids were a culmination of a seven-month investigation, called Operation Killen Court, that targeted gang members in the Mob-Piru clique of the Bloods. At least three warrants served were for murder, authorities said. Times staff writer Ari Bloomekatz reports more on the sweep.

"LA times days are numbered." I love this crap -- you think that this post doesn't belong in the Homicide Report, even though it's directly related to 3 murders, and because your little mind is so peeved at this one supposed off-topic post, the Times is going to fold. How the HELL did you get from point A to point B on that one.

I do not live in that area and have no idea what it must be like for regular citizens. I do hope this RAID has made the streets safer for the residents who live there. I do hope more Compton folks will sign in and comment so the rest of us can hear from the horses mouths the situation as it really is.
MANY OF US ARE LISTENING and believe or not, we do care!

I totally agree with missing link. First and foremost, you cant blame these cops. Im tired of hearing cops are messing with a innocent black man...blah blah blah. With these barbaric gangs and teens killing recklessly and with no hesitation, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD COP HAVE ANY OTHER MENTALITY THAN WHAT HE HAS GOING IN THE HOOD?? If these cops are going to a dangerous situation everytime they have to patrol these know violent areas opf course they are going to have to prepare themselves mentally. If the cops say pull over PULL THE HELL OVER..if he says show me your hands SHOW YOUR DAMN HANDS and dont rebel. if you want a safer neighborhood from the violence from the gangs then cooperate with the cops and stop complaining because they couldnt tell the difference between you and a gangbanger! please lolol... if you young and hip and dress like the rest of young people then of course they are not taking no chances I WOULDNT and IM BLACK PLEASE.

What I dont understand is how the sherrif's department could use one persons murder to arrest all these people....Wake up...They r doing this for show...More than half of these criminals will be back out on the street....And what about all those criminals they didn't catch during the morning raid...

Is there some kind of contest between police departments to see who can don the most cop gear?
Seriously, my father landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day with less stuff than these cops are carrying around.
Goggles? On a gang sweep? ROFL

parents look in your mirror.what do you see?what does your child see when he or she looks at you or your friends?dont act like we were not young and thought we knew it all.talk to your children not at them, listen to them even when they are silent.reality is,if they dress like, act like, they will get treated like.....buy the police or the po streets.the line between affiliated and associated is not only thin, but often very blurry............

It actually says that warrants were served for murder. Not only did I read it I understood it. Are all raids posted in the Homicide report or just the ones done in Compton? LA times days are numbered.

thank you very much to our sherriff department. more of these need to be done now often and the entire county of los angeles. it help and releaves us to know that some of these hodlum cowards are taken off the streets. these people are the ones who bring danger and fear into our nieghborhood. the most important is that we the citizens need to report crimes that they see or know of in your community and nieghborhoods dont worry about the lable of a snitch look at yourself as human being who can now feel a little safer. families if have family members who you know has committed a crime invovled in violent gangs report them you'll feel better and safer and secure that you or members of your familt wont be next on this blog list

CALM DOWN ALL OF YOU OUTSIDERS LOOKING IN. IF YOU DO NOT LIVE HERE THEN YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU'RE COMMENTING ABOUT. PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN AND AROUND COMPTON ARE WORKING CLASS TAX PAYERS JUST LIKE YOU MAY BE (OR NOT). HALF OF THE PEOPLE PICKED UP IN THESE SO CALLED SWEEPS ARE BACK OUT WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THEIR ARREST. JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT :)

Exactly why is this as a homicide report?? Anyone died??

They listed this in this section because guns and drugs leads to homicides.

people don't be so quick to judge... or give praise to a police department that is corrupt in its own right... this is one small step towards justice. Lets just pray that it is not in vain or that it is not targeting people just for knowing or growing up in certain communities.

P. If you read the article it stated that a young lady was murdered.

Why is this in the Homicide report? Mmmm

Wow, their mothers must be proud. We need harsher gang laws.

Thank you LAPD and LA County Sheriff's Department for getting these hoodlums off the streets!! You are doing a wonderful job no matter what anyone else says. You men and women put your lives on the line everyday to protect us, the public, and rarely do you get a simple "thanks." Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully one day, all these COWARDS that think they are "tough" because they have enough strength to pull a trigger instead of throwing a punch, will be sitting in a prison cell with their new boyfriend Bubba!! Thanks!!
