I live in Highland Park, Northeast area of LA, had an innocent girl in her familys car killled by a 16 year who shot at someone driving by. 2 days before that I was mugged by 3 girls in daylight, right in front of a Catholic Church. Not to blame the parents but what morals are they teaching their kids.
Where are these kids getting their guns?

I happen to read this blog daily. Because it keeps me informed on what places to try to avoid. Enormously important blog. I am sure some of you readers feel me. Awesome job LA Times staff. Can you please update it more frequently. It has not changed this whole week. Thank you...

ima 26 year old black man i live in central long beach and get along with people from different races. Long beach is a big melting pot of people. we work and want to have a nice life like any other person in any other american city.To the city and law enforcement, instead of giving me a ticket beacuse i made a u turn in a business district at 430 in the morning while the street was empty of traffic while i was getting my daily newspaper. lets work on getting these known killers off the streets. oh yea when the last time you seen a drive by out of a lowrider? wasting ya time pulling me over because my 87 caprice had hydros...how many gansters rolled by..yall know its in the same area look at the maps....put more cops out there at night from 10pm to 7am thats when most of the killings go down

This is probally one of the most painful and embarrassing times for us in LA. If we sit around and do nothing, nothing will be done, cant blame the police all the time! Honestly the sad part is these are not all the weekend homicides, I also lost a loved one Friday to these streets. Im saying a Prayer not only for all the victims and their families, but for LA in general. Its time we come together as a city and do something about whats happening.... Weekends like this shouldnt affect just 13 families but the city as a WHOLE, because you never know when it may be you that has to say goodbye to your teenage son/daughter, or loved one, or when they have to say goodbye to you!

thats why I dont live in LA anymore, "yeah but we have everything here, entertainment, SC football, Lakers are in the finals, etc, etc, etc". Too bad, Kobe Bryant doesn't mean that much to me that I have to put my family in harms way. Human beings should'nt have to be subjected
to this kind of life and paying up the wazoo for it!!!

10 Murders happened in Tijuana this weekend and that was on CNN and Lou Dobbs reporting. 13 Murders happened in Los Angeles and that barely was a blip on the radar Nationally.

A documentary should be made & shown depicting all the heartache involved in these senseless murders. Perhaps if everybody could see the pain brought on to both the victim's loved ones as well as the perpetrator's loved ones, maybe it'd make a difference. My brother was shot & killed as he walked home from a nearby restaurant. As we went through the court process, & saw the heartache brought to the suspect's loved ones as well, I found myself wondering what would be worse...to be the mother of a murdered child, to be the mother of a convicted murderer, or to not see justice done at all. So much heartache all the way around. We need to educate our youth before it's too late & make them keenly aware of the consequences of their actions.

This is getting out of control. Parents need to get more involved with their kids. And also at age 37 why are you involved in bar fights? now that guy is at the coroners because of immaturity. Im an Inglewood resident, im 25 and seen too many murders here. Where is our tax money going? most definitely not for more police or schools. Im fed up!

Irvine and Thousand Oaks are among the safest cities in America when it comes to violent crime. L.A. has to be among the worst. Welcome to Motown West!

Our friend, Alexander Aldana was shot and killed on Fountain av on Friday evening. This is not mentioned in your vanilla report which srives to downplay the serious lack of policing in Silvarlake.
SHAME!

There is an unprecedent number of Latino descended individuals being killed, and may even indicate a gang acting severally, but together.
With this type of phobiac misinterpretations toward a specific racial background, one has to consider any alternative to decrease the escalative behaviors toward Latinos and blacks.
The escalated rate toward these people can be overcome.
