Matthew Tyrone Denney, 20, a black man, was shot while in a vehicle in the 1700 block of West 60th Street in South-Central L.A. about 1 p.m. Monday, June 16. Denney was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m.

According to police officials, Denney was in a vehicle on Western Avenue when a newer-model Cadillac pulled up beside it.  A black man from inside the Cadillac opened fire, hitting Denney in the torso and causing his vehicle to collide with another car, authorities said. The gunman's vehicle was seen driving west on 60th Street. Police said there were two other black men inside the gunman's car.
