Kevin Johnson, 40
Kevin Johnson, 40, a black man, was shot to death in the 4100 block of Sutro Avenue near Leimert Park about 3:35 a.m. Monday, June 30.
Police said Johnson was standing alongside his car when a suspect or suspects approached and shot him multiple times. Family members and neighbors went outside and found Johnson lying on the sidewalk, police said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, authorities said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call South Bureau Homicide Dets. Carreon and Tylee at (213) 485-1383

What can i say he was the realist person I have ever know and I have known him almost my whole. Though we had not been in touch as life does that I never will forget all the good times we had....You were loved by many and hated by many as there was no happy medium with you. You will be missed dearly I pray for Terrence and your kids. Hopefully you chillin with Moms now and i know we will see each other again.

Baby my heart goes out to you, I am so sad that you were alone when this happen. The last time we spoke you were so positive and the changes you were making in your life will effect your daughter forever. I'm so sorry I wasn't there by yourside, but you will be in my heart forever. You have always been there for me and I will always stay your Platium. We haven't seen each other in a while, when ever i hit the block or where ever I'm told, "Kev just left.' It don't hit home until a person in your circle past. You know that "Circle That We Had." I had the privilege of knowing this Good Brother. A while back we wrote letters and poems to juveniles that were incarcerated. He was a good person.

Mr. Johnson - Lol, I never understood why we liked to address each other that way.
I met you when I was 16 an here I am almost 30. I never heard or saw you get worried about anything that came your way..."Why stress?" you used to always tell me. Your friendship means the world to me. You are the one person that has remained a true friend over the years. We had our "check in call" about two weeks ago. Over all these years we always managed to keep in touch, even if it was just a five minute phone call. I NEVER thought this would happen to you...you were untouchable in my eyes. I love you so much and you will be missed and live on forever in my heart.
I found a letter you wrote me almost ten years ago exactly....the last line says
"Ay! I got a deal for ya! 'No matter what...friends forever' Ya wit it or what?....Killa

Wow...I immediately broke down when I heard. I just talked to you like a week ago. We were talking about how we always make sure to keep in youch and check in on our kids and fam bam. Wssup Uncle Kev, I would much rather not be typing you a message to say good bye. It's super messed up what happened to you and how it happened. My mom just told me that uncle Greg, Bone and some of the other homies raised thousands of dollars to make sure you went out right. Thye said they owe it all to grandma and how she raised yawl. We'll miss you and you will always and forever be in my heart. The last thing you asked me and would ALWAYS ask was if you needed to come to Charlotte to check the dude I'm with. The answer is no.
