Vanessa Jimenez, 16

Vanessa Jimenez, 16, a Latina girl, was shot at 12810 Frailey Ave. in Compton about 12:35 p.m. Monday, June 16. Jimenez was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Jimenez was sitting in a car outside her house when a gray SUV passed by, and someone from inside fired several shots. Jimenez was struck in the head, according to the coroner's office.  Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500
