Preston_brumfield_49Preston Wayne Brumfield, a 49-year-old black man, was found unconscious in a pool of blood on the sidewalk at 1948 20th Street in Santa Monica at about 11:30 p.m. on May 11 and was pronounced dead at a local hospital four days later, at 11:18 a.m. May 16. Coroner's investigators said initially that his injuries were consistent with an assault, and that he may have been hit with a baseball bat, but further investigation is pending to determine the cause of death. Sorry to hear about this. Pico and 20th is ground zero for the worst of Santa Monica. It is amazing to see the difference between Montana Ave and Pico and think that it's the same city.
