May 12, 2008 |  8:00 am

Manuel Rodriguez, 16, a Latino youth, was shot near Remick Avenue and Weidner Street  in Pacoima on Monday, May 12. Rodriguez was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.

Rodriguez was riding his bicycle when a suspect ran up, shot him and fled southbound on Remick, said Det. Pat Barron of the LAPD's Foothill Division. The next day, Jamie Mejia Jr., 20, a Latino man, was riding his bicycle in the 12600 block of Louvre Street about 3:15 p.m. when he was fatally shot. Barron said the two incidents may be related, but he didn't have evidence to suggest that they were.
