Jaime Mejia Jr., 20

Jaime Mejia Jr., 20, a Latino man was shot and killed in an apparent drive-by shooting at 12674 Louvre St. in Pacoima about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. Mejia was taken by ambulance to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.

According to LAPD spokesman Richard French, Mejia was riding his bicycle when a car pulled alongside him. Someone from inside the car fired several shots, hitting Mejia in the chest, French said. The suspects were described as two Latino men.

The following day, in the 900 block of Nagle Avenue about 2:58 a.m., officers from the LAPD's Foothill Division responded to a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found Ernesto Cardenas, 26, a Latino man, with gunshot wounds. Cardenas was taken by ambulance to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:20 a.m. 

Police said the shootings were unrelated.

Its sad to see what a tragedy this world is coming to my heart goes out to the family of the victims but its like they say you play with fire ur bound to get burned nothing good comes out gangbanging beleive me I was young and stupid once but it seems that gangs are just much worse now may god bless this families and hope that people wake up and see such tragedies occuring and make smarter choices....I guess u can never be to safe anywhere anymore
