Jaime Mejia Jr., 20, a Latino man was shot and killed in an apparent drive-by shooting at 12674 Louvre St. in Pacoima about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. Mejia was taken by ambulance to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.

According to LAPD spokesman Richard French, Mejia was riding his bicycle when a car pulled alongside him. Someone from inside the car fired several shots, hitting Mejia in the chest, French said. The suspects were described as two Latino men.

Upon arrival, officers found Ernesto Cardenas, 26, a Latino man, with gunshot wounds. Cardenas was taken by ambulance to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:20 a.m.

Police said the shootings were unrelated.
