Jose Espinosa, 31

Jose Espinosa, 31, a Latino man, was fatally shot at Venice Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue in the Pico-Union area about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3. Police spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said Espinosa was driving west on Venice Boulevard in a burgundy Chevrolet Camaro and was fired on in the intersection, then crashed his car into a pole. He was taken by paramedics to California Hospital Medical Center, where doctors learned he had been shot, she said. The man died later at the hospital, authorities said.
