Mazei Tehrani, 29

April 18, 2008 |  8:10 am

Mazei Tehrani, 29, a white man, was killed in what police allege was a deliberate hit and run in the 700 block of Delco Avenue in Winnetka about 1 a.m. Sunday, April 20. Tehrani was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:51 a.m.

Los Angeles police gave this account of events: An argument at a house party escalated into a fight in the street. Police said Marquis DeJon Jiles, 25, a Northridge resident, got into his friend's 2006 Toyota Scion and drove away. Jiles then made a U-turn and allegedly ran over a group of people who were standing in the street before crashing into a tree in a neighbor's front yard.  According to witnesses, Jiles then got out of the car and ran off but was later apprehended a short distance away and arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mazei was a very sweet and loving person and did not deserve to die like that, we will all miss you Mazei and now you are with Danny. Love you and miss you.

this was sad and unfortunate the jiles guy should be charge with murder and not vehicular manslaughter and given the maximum sentence since was absolutely no accident. an argument should not have lead to this tragic accident and this guy had the nerve to get out of his car unharmed run to someones house and say he had been shot and the person who let him in was just as stupid because we all know in this day and time we dont open our doors let alone let a stranger in our homes. our society is turning into a killing field of people with no remorse whatsoever the fortunate thing this man was caught unlike some murders go unsolved. my deepest sympathy goes out to the family and please try not to have vengence in your heart against all afro americans because of what this has done all are not evil as he apparently is and are good working class religous individuals with feelings, love in their hearts with asoul of mercy. may God bless your family and strengthen you daily

I have known Mazi for twenty plus years and this is a serious tragedy,Jiles should be executed,im sure if he gets out some day he will dissapear, such a sad weekend ......

My dearest Mazi there isnt words to describe the pain that this person has caused in our lives. My family and i will never blame all African Americans or Blacks for this act of cruelty but only blame this one selfish person for takeing you away from our lives. I promise you I will fight with everything i have to make sure justice is served. He needs to pay for what he's done to our family, to your friends, to all that love and miss you each and everyday, and most importantly to you. I was very blessed to have you in my life for the short and sweet 29 years you were with us, you will be in all of our hearts for eternity. I want to thank everybody for your love and support in this most difficult time, justice will be served. I love you always and forever your sister....

This death should have NEVER occured. Mazi would have turned 30 today. He was supposed to be here with us, his friends, his family celebrating his birthday!

Mazi, you are missed. Stay close to those who need you most. I am sure you are. I'll be visiting you on Sunday to pay my respects to you and your birthday my friend.

A wake up call for all of us not to get attached to worldly things. Life is to short and its not just about this world, think of what you do and be prepared for hereafter.

my heart goes out to your family, i do believe there is more to this story then the party givers want to say. i believe all who were involved in the fight should be on trial. just because its your party doesnt mean the people you are attacking should be the only ones punished for you starting it all. everyone has heard many stories from the media and the party giver has had more than incident where he started a fight and someone has either lost their life or been injured, he should be on trial as well as the young man being charged. this family lost a loved one and for that this man has to serve time in jail but for the friends involved in it all, they need to take a step back and think if they controled their tempers maybe this wouldnt have happend. violence is never the answer i to have lost a loved one from violence its hard to forgive the person from which our loved ones life was taken, the Lord is the only one that can judge and eternaly punish those who have done wrong. justice will be served and the true people responsible for starting this will be found out. god bless both families that are dealing with this painful situation.
