Every weekday afternoon at 3:15, over 400 middle school students are dismissed from Centennial College Preparatory Academy and flood the exact area where this homicide occurred. I know, because I'm a 7th grade math and science teacher at Centennial. It's frightening to think what might have occurred if Mr. Parra's shooting had happened just a few minutes later. Fortunately for our students, Mr. Parra was killed around 3 p.m., before our students were strolling through the neighborhood as potential targets for stray bullets. As it was, our school was only on lockdown for about thirty minutes as a result of the murder.
so sad
