Michael Fabian, 16
Michael Fabian, a 16-year-old Latino youth, was shot in an alley behind 8519 Corbin Ave. at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday, March 9. Fabian was attending a birthday party when a fight broke out. During the scuffle, a Latino man pulled out a handgun and fired two shots. Fabian was hit in the chest and collapsed; another Latino man was hit in the shoulder. @Tony: The area Michael Fabian (Canoga Park/Reseda/Winnetka) is definitely a rough area but not dangerous. I can tell you that because I not only go through the area everyday, but I live in the area, and I'm not involved in any kind of trouble. So please don't make assumptions if you don't even have the slightest clue about what the area looks like.
@Ashley & Victor: It is indeed sad that Michael Fabian had to go so early; But it is obvious that with that kind of surname, he was either up to no good, or hanging around with the wrong crowd. He is dead for looking out for people who make idiotic choices, to say the least.
I'm a native of the area, still live here... things were never like this. I don't understand why you as the youth of America are in this rush to prove something to nobody, why you allow yourselves to this kind of attitude... It's this kind of mentality that allow people like Tony to say horrible things about the area and in turn, the people that live in it.

A 16 year old child should have been at home, NOT at a party at 1240am in a high crime area in one of the most dangerous cities in America.

May he rest in peace. Why does LA continue to be the killing field of 13 and 16 y.olds? It saddens me. I suspect had he stayed in Little Rock he would be alive today.

I can't believe that this happened to Michael.....he was my best friend.....he used to live over here in Little Rock, Arkansas and he used to live up the street from me.....he moved to California about 3-4 years ago.....we both grew up together over here in Little Rock....we would still talk over the phone and stuff.....and he came to visit last year during spring break....but i hadnt seen him again after that.....i just cant believe that he is gone.....he went too soon....
