Jeremy Mancera, a 19-year-old Latino man, was shot at 41725 170th St. in Lake Los Angeles at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3. Detectives with the sheriff's homicide bureau said Mancera had called friends and told them that he was being chased by three Latino men in a brown truck. Mancera was later found in the back seat of his car with gunshot wounds by friends who had gone to the location, authorities said. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died at 5:05 p.m.

I met Jeremy several years ago in camp. He was a gentle, easy-going, sociable young man. What a shame to see our youth so lost and forgotten, that even when they call for help, no one comes. May society wake up soon and help our youth.

Why would you call your friends instead of calling 911. If you are being chased and are alone i would think 911 would be a better option. Poor guy. Think people think.

WOW, Jeremy was a good friend of one of my friends and he was such a young happy guy. I remember hearing him speak and laugh with my friend. What a shame he is not in this world anymore. To his family i give my condolences and may all this be a lesson to everyone that life is to short and we all need to shape our surrounding to be safer for our own good. I hope that the people who did this get caught and spend their sorry days behind bars.

Jeremy did the only thing he could think of to do at the time this tragic event happened. He called who was most on his mind in that moment.... a friend. You don't know what you would do if you were in the same situation..... we have the luxury of hindsight..... Jeremy no longer has that luxury ("oh, I should have called 911 instead"). Also, this is a very small community with no Police Station for over 18 miles, with the exception of a little substation in a strip mall that I don't believe is manned all the time. The sad fact is, Jeremy wasn't thinking straight, he was most likely terrified and did what came most naturally. And, instead of focusing on what Jeremy should have done and once again blaming the victim, we should be focusing on how we (in this community) can get these criminals off the street once and for all so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Jermey,
You were like a brother to me.And you always looked out for me like i was your little sister. You always made sure nothing was wrong, and always showed that you cared. You put smiles on everyones face no matter what.I just cant belive that your really gone.It seems like you never left. But I just wish that you were really here.Today is a year that you havent been here for me.And everytime I am by myself i feel you next to me I see you everytime i am by my self.I just wish you were really here.
Well jermey i just wanted to tell you I love you and I cant wait till the day i get to be up there with you soon.Well I love you and my god be with you up there and be here with me till i get a chance to get to be with you.I love you Jeremy,my brother.

jeremy was loved by many people...
he was so sweet and so fun to hang out with...
our memories we shared with him will be in our hearts forever...
he didnt deserve what happened to him...
no one knows why it happened and probably will never understand...
he is now watching over us and protecting us...
we love you jeremy and miss you soooo much...
you did what came to your mind first...
dont listen to the people on here that are trying to talk bad..,
when things like that happen you cant plan what you are going to do...
you just do what comes to your mind first...
everything happens for a reason...
even though we might not want it t happen that way...
you will never be forgotten...
REST IN PEACE JEREMY UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN...
