NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Three accused members of a North Hollywood gang were arrested in connection with the fatal beating and stabbing of a rival gang member because he happened to walking through their turf.
Jose Rivas, an 18-year-old laborer; Giovanny Lopez, a 30-year-old customer service rep. from Canyon Country; and Juan M. Barron, 19, were being held on a murder charge in connection with the death March 2 of Guillermo Villezcas.
The suspects are members of the North Hollywood Boys gang and claimed the park area as their turf, police said. They are believed to have jumped Villezcas because he was an associate of a rival gang and was in the wrong place.
"It's pathetic," said Martin Pinner, a homicide detective at the LAPD's North Hollywood Division.
Villezcas had been walking along Vanowen Street and Laurelgrove Avenue when possibly as many as three people in a white or light-colored mini van drove up, got out and chased him down before beating him. Police believe the man was also jumped by a second group of gang members who were on foot. Police did not know exactly how many people were involved, but at some point, possibly several knives were pulled and the victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest, back and arm, police said. Police said they didn't know where Villezcas was headed.
Witnesses identified the suspects and police had a warrant issued for their arrests. They were arrested yesterday. At least three others are being sought. Police have recovered

I live less than a block away from this park.
At 1:15am on this night, I was awake. I heard 6 gunshots.
The gunshots woke my husband, and we immediately called 911. I cried and cried.. I just lost 2 very important people to me, Saul Garcia and Kevin Deville .. they were amazing people, passionate, would never consider being in gangs... but both were shot and killed walking down the street.. for nothing.. and I cried because I knew someone would have to go through what I went through.. what I'm still going through. Losing important people over pride.. pathetic.
The cops came pretty quickly, sirens blazing, ambulances, fire trucks.. but they didn't leave with their sirens on.
I stayed up for hours with my husband, watching.. the police were searching the streets with flashlights and walked in front of my house.. I asked them if someone died. They came up and took reports on what we heard..
So now articles are out and don't mention the gunfire. It had to have been related.. Same exact time, same area the shots came from.. so I don't know why it's not mentioned.
I hope they find who's doing this. It just hurts too much. My heart goes out to this poor victims family.. I know what you're going through. I hope you receive justice.. and I hope someday soon, we'll find out who killed my friends Saul and Kevin as well..

This is very sad i feel for the family. His father is a very good friend of ours, I cant believe this happen to him. Although i didnt get to know guillermo as much since we seen him around when we were little, we knew pretty much what was going on in his life. His father is a really good person and I personally dont think he deserves this and neither did Guillermo. I hate the point that all this violence is happening that its even dangerous to go out at night, and Im sure that even the people that you hang around with are not the people to trust. I hope Honestly that they find the people that did this, they dont deserve to be out in the street after this, you already imagine what they are capable of. How can someone have so much hate to even comitt these times of crimes. Guillermo is in a better place now. You will be missed by your friends and family.
