Shelton Sumerall, a 32-year-old black man, and Monica Youngblood, 23, a black woman, were shot and killed in an apartment building in the 6700 block of 11th Avenue near Crenshaw Boulevard in South L.A. at about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 24, said Carlos Velasquez, LAPD 77th Street Division homicide supervisor.
