Chinatown case

October 29, 2007 | 10:14 am

(This homicide has not yet been listed by the coroner.)

Chinatown: Stanley Garcia, 52, a Latino man, died Friday, Oct. 19, three weeks after he was shot several times on Alpine Street in Chinatown and suffered what were at first thought to be non-life-threatening injuries. A determination of homicide came sometime after his death, hence the delay in this posting. LAPD Central detectives are investigating.

According to Lt. Paul Vernon, Garcia was one of the last surviving documented members of the Alpine street gang. This happens sometimes: Gangs go out of business.

"Snitching"

Originally it just meant to mind your own business. If you're walking by someone commiting a victimless crime, like smoking a joint, you shouldn't go to the police with that.

But now it's at the point that in a crowd of teenagers, a murder occurs.
And tens of people who witnessed a murder, and can identify a murderer choose instead to leave a violent criminal on the street.

Well all I can say to those people is that I hope their next victims are close to you. Your mothers, your fathers, and your brothers and sisters may be the ones to pay for your cowardice.

There are ways to be discreet, there are ways to contact detectives and report what you know without having to testify in open court.

An entire party full of people assign no responsibility for a murder of one of their friends and let a dangerous criminal roam the streets in order avoid being thought of as a snitch.
Someday we as a society must learn to take responsibility for our actions.

San Pedro High School should be ashamed of those in its midst who knowingly conceal a murderer. All who fail to cooperate are accomplices in that murder.

Any death is sad, especially for the family members left behind. You know Gods word is true. But people dont believe that Gods word is true if you live by the sword you'll die by the sword..a paraphrase of Revelation 13:10.
I wish all of the gangs go out of business, like yesterday.
