Sophia Broussard, 38

September 10, 2007 |  1:32 pm

Sophia Broussard, 38, a black woman, was found stabbed to death at 2813 W. 42nd Street in the Crenshaw area at about 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.

Los Angeles Police Det. Robert Lait gave this account:

Broussard's body was found by her 20-year-old son in the shower. She had been stabbed some five dozen times. Investigators allege that Damiean Johnson, 27, a domestic violence offender and Broussard's boyfriend of four years, fled the scene, initially taking Broussard's 5-year-old daughter Kenyon with him. The child was quickly located unharmed in the Palmdale area, and Johnson was later arrested in San Bernardino County. During his few hours of freedom immediately following the murder, he had taken the time to attend a football game.

OMG, What a terrible story! I can only imagine that this woman's son will need some type of counseling after this. This crime screams a lot of rage.

Sophia Broussard was one of my best friends...she was a beautiful person in and out. i just hope this man gets the death penalty from all of the horrible things he did to her.... i love you sophia !

I knew Sophia. She was a women full of energy, who loved her children and respected hard work. The world without out here is not as colorful or as meaningful.

This crime was absolutely senseless! I only pray for the peace of mind for her family members and all that will be affected by her death.

IM STILL IN SHOCK BY THIS ALL, SOPHIA WAS MY AUNT AND I CANT BELIEVE THIS ALL, I JUS CANT... MY AUNT WAS SO LOVED AND FULL OF LIFE AND NOW, ME AND MY FAMILY ARE ONLY LEFT WITH MEMORIES.. ITS NOT FAIR, THIS BRUTAL AND SENSELESS CRIME.. ALL OF OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN IN SHAMBLES SINCE THIS ALL HAS HAPPENED, BUT I KNOW GOD WILL SEE US ALL THROUGH THIS... WE LOVE U AUNT AND MISS YOU!.... THINGS JUS WONT BE THE SAME.

It sadden me that this women life was taken I heard of the crime from a neighbor I live near her apartment. I pray that the peace of God wrap his arm around her love ones.. God will fight your battle the man in question will get his just reward no question about that.. Peace and blessing to you all of you..

Sofia was a genuine person who loved all especially her chidren. I am the uncle of litte Kenyon whom she loved more then life. Unfortunatlely, Sofia got involved with a man who had a past of violent acts. When she decided to break things off her life was taken away from her. This animal has taken a mother away from her family and friends. Sofia you were an angel and may God bless your soul. I will do my best to help Little Kenyon grow to be a prosperious young lady. You rest now and I hope to see you in Heaven one day.

I am a childhood friend of the suspect in custody. I don't know what happened that day,but God rest her soul and God forbid that my friend had anything to do with it. I once had a conversation with Sophia over the phone earlier this year, and she seemed like a very nice, kind, and giving woman. I feel terrible that all of this is happening and I feel very sad for her children, especially her daughter. With that being said, what is in the dark, will come to light and justice will be served. the Lord works in mysterious ways.God Bless....

Sofia was a co-worker of mine. She was a hard worker and always had something good to say. One of her favorite subjects involved her children. She wanted so hard to provide for them. That's why she became one of the most productive employees at the company. She told me that she wanted me to meet her beautiful children. I never expected to make their acquaintance at her funeral.

The monster who shortened Sofia's life chose to forfeit his right to return to society. He was not a man; he was a sociopathic punk. A man would have left. A man would not have exposed an innocent child to the horrors of violence. It sickens me to no end to think that hard-working taxpayers will now have to pay to house and feed this useless breath of life.

I saw firsthand Sofia's incredibly handsome son become a man before my very eyes as he dealt with the pain of losing his mother. Sofia would have so proud of him. As a mother of two sons, I certainly was.

My heart breaks for Sofia's family. I ask God to continue to give them strength.

Sophia acted as my mentor at my last job. She had no problem telling me that I was crazy or that I was angel... she said what she had to say. She would hug me and squeeze my hand when she needed something as well as when she was sharing love or in the need of a friend. I have not seen her since I left the job a half a year ago but have felt the presence of her sweet energy that she blessed me with. I consider myself lucky to have been a part of such a wonderful person's life. Sophia, thank you for the love, the hugs, the good times.... and so many laughs! I hope you are listening to Randy Crawford up in heaven and wearing your teeth bleaching trays. "You're so crazy!"

to all of Sophia supporters... Damiean Johnson goes to court on Oct 22 in downtown LA at the Criminal court building... I went to court the other day when he was scheduled and when he came out he smiled a few times at me and showed no remorse... it made my stomach turn but i think we should be their and show more support... this is not over ! Sophia i love you and it hurts missing you... BeDaBe

I hope everyone is kept appraised of the trial and results.

To all who loved Sophia... She was a beautiful person inside and out and i know everyone is devasted about her being gone, but one thing to remember is that our sweet "angel" is here with us everyday.

I miss my friend so much and know one will ever know how much. She enlighted everyone she touch and i will miss her so much when i think of what happened to my friend i just start crying, but it will be hard for us but we will make it through.

I love you Sophia and u will be deeply missed............. "Mo"

the next court date for Sophia's murderer is Dec 11th at the Criminal court building in downtown LA off of Temple and Broadway. I believe it is going to be in Division 51 on the 7th floor.... if not you can always go to the second floor to the clerks office and check the calendar for Damiean Johnson. Hope to see you their....I miss you Sophia !..........Be

LOVE YOU SOPHY. 4 EVER !!

YOU WILL BE MISSED DEARLY SOPHY !!! LOVE YOU ALWAYS !!!

michelle since you have doubts that your friend had anything to do with this won't you come to court and see. obvisiouly you odn't know him that well to doubt him... that is who he is.

update: today was the preliminary hearing and everything went well. Dec. 27th he will be arraign on murder and kidnap.

For the ones that doubted HE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER AND KIDNAP...THANK GOD !

He was convicted to 80 years!! God is Amazing

Is it true that her best girlfriend killed herself recently?

I am truly sorry about what happened to Sophia, but Damiean Johnson was a very close friend of mine. We've known each other since junior high school, and he has always been great to me. The Damiean I know and love would never have done this to anyone. I had just seen him a couple months before this incident and I just wish that I could have done something to help him. To all that don't understand, people aren't perfect and they make mistakes if this is his mistake let God deal with him. We as humans should not pass judgement, So please don't assume that he is a monster he is just a man who may have made a mistake. My prayers for Sophia's family, and also for Damiean and his family.
God bless you all.
