Manuel Pasqual, an 18-year-old Latino young man, was stabbed at 9200 Deeble St. near Southern Avenue and Tweedy Boulevard in South Gate at about 11:43 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1. He died Sunday, Sept. 2 around 12:25 a.m.
He was leaving a party with friends. They weren't gang members, but that did not prevent them from being challenged by a group of youths who were. There was a fight. Pasqual was killed.
Update: Sheriff's detectives have cleared this case. At least one latino suspect was arrested.

That 18-year-old from South Gate just graduated from high school with me this past June. It's horrible to know that one member of the Class of 2007 has already died.

This is so sad. I can't believe these things our happening in our city. My house is not far from where he was killed and I have a family member that lives doors down from where he was killed. These kids killing kids need to be stopped. South Gate is becoming more dangerous by the minute. =(
