Moises Contreras, 17, a Latino youth, was shot in the head and calf at 1522 Cedar Ave. in Long Beach, and died at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22.
Long Beach officers got a "shots fired" call. They arrived to find Moises dead in front of a home. Nothing else was released by Long Beach P.D. except a number for the detectives--Long Beach Dets. Russ Moss and Terri Hubert, (562) 570-7244.

THIS IS EXTREMELY SAD TO SEE ANOTHER ONE OF OUR YOUTHS DEAD BEFORE HE GET TO EXPERIENCE THE GOOD QUALITIES OF LIFE. I JUST PRAY FOR THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS TRAGEDY. I LIVE DOWN THE STREET AND SEE ALL OF THE DANGERS ARISING. I PRAY THAT THIS BECOMES A LESSON FOR A LOT OF THE TEENS AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD. WE HAVE MANY CHILDREN THAT LIVES OVER THERE AND ARE TIRED OF LOSING THEM ONE BY ONE.
