Hassan Johnson, 37, a black man, was shot Monday, Sept. 3 at about 7:55 p.m. at 85th and Harvard streets. He was taken to California hospital, where he died at 9:37 p.m. He was on foot, walking to the liquor store. So were his attackers, suspected to be two Latino men or youths. I am commenting on the senseless death of my nephew Bryan J.D. Hollis a.k.a. Daddyro or Dro as some of the friends called him. He was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in the Nickerson Gardens Housing Projects. He was only 23 years old. There was also an unknown person that was shot also. I don't know if this person survived or not. Last I heard he was in critical condition. Why hasn't there been an investigation surrounding this shooting? Why haven't I seen anything in the Homicide Report regarding my nephew's death?

sorry to hear about ur nephew, my cousin was murdered on May 26 2007, and it gets really frustrating that detectives cant come up with anything, even tho they arrested a coward who everyone in the neigborhood has pointed fingers to, my condolences to u and ur family

I LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY AND WHEN I READ ABOUT THINGS GOING ON IN L.A.IT"S JUST MESS UP . YOUNG AND OLD GETING SHOT FOR NOTING. AND I KNOW THAT EVERYBODY KNOWS THE POLICE DO NOT CARE. IF KIDS KILL THEM SELFS ---WHEN THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BUT GOD THAT IS WHEN YOU FIND OUT THAT GOD IS ALL YOU NEED. WORK LIKE YOU DON'T NEED MONEY .LOVE LIKE YOU NEVER BEEN HURT. AND DANCE LIKE NO ONE'S WATCHING-P-RAYING U-NTIL S-OMETHING H-APPENS PUSH ! STOP THE KILLING

A lot of the police investigations turning up nothing could come from a strict code of silence from those in the community.
If enough people in the community decided to fight the gangs and get involved, perhaps some of these killers would be caught.
I feel for those of you who have lost family and friends, but you sit by and let the gangs run the show. You glorify the "gansta" mentality with music, guns, ganstas and hos and then wonder why it's happening. Get a clue.
Help those trying to help you -- not hinder them or hide evidence.
You're going to reap what you sow.

I live in Philadelphia and we lead the nation in shooting deaths at the time
and are on pace to outpace last years numbers. Many of us know why
so many people are being killed but don't want to speak up. People having
children and not teaching them common sense, music that promotes
killing at the mall, drinking, drugs, gangs, thug mentality equating respecting
others with being weak. Yes my friend we know what is going on out
here. How can the police help when there is that stop snitching mentality
out there. There is only one way to live proudly in one's life. And that is
by standing up! When others lay down!

A complete TRAGEDY! This young man is my best friend's nephew. By all accounts he was hard working and lead a normal life. His death; as in most cases like this, has affected his family greatly.
