LaShaun Menefee, 28
LaShaun Menefee, 28, a black woman, was shot at a Chevron station at 8504 Artesia Blvd. in Bellflower and taken to a Lakewood hospital, where she died at 12:38 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2.
She had gone to the crowded gas station, and stopped by the mini-mart to buy something, said Sheriff's Lt. Larry Lincoln. As she was walking back to her car, a champagne-colored, mid-sized car drove by southbound on Downey, and a black man or youth inside fired five to eight rounds into the crowd.
Menefee was almost to her car; she was struck once in the torso. Companions drove her to Lakewood Hospital. Above, the Chevron, with a Winchell's and McDonald's across the street. The view is looking up Downey across Artesia. The killer came this way.

I loved Shaun to death. She was the realiest chick i knew. It hurts so bad because i talked to her the day she passed and if i knew that would have been her last day on earth i would have let her know how much i admired her as a single parent, friend, and sister. I feel so sick about all this madness that is going on. She was my age and it just makes it all the more real that this type of thing can happen to some-
one who was so innocent....that just went to the local gas station. May God bless your family.

My son and I have been neighbors to Shaun and her family in Long Beach. We only knew them in passing, but have been impressed with their friendliness and kind natures. I am shocked by Shaun's death and deeply saddened that her children have lost their mother.
The family is in our thoughts and prayers. Each and every one of us must do whatever we are able to end the violence in our communities.

Shaun was like my lil sister. She was a fun loving individual. It saddens me that she had to leave this earth so soon. My heart goes out to Her Mom. She had the best relationship with her mom. Dora may god bless you in your time of need. To her 3 beautiful kids Nu-Nu, Stefon and Tia I am here for you when ever you need to talk or whatever you may need. Bill may god bless you becuase I know that she was your baby girl. To the 3 brothers she left here on this earth. I know what it's like to lose a brother but I can't imagine what it's like to lose a baby sister to a sensless crime. She loved you guys so much and she would want for you to be strong for your parents and the kids. Shaun I love you but God loved you more. So with that said he called his Beautiful Angel Home.. I really hope they find the person who did this. May your concious eat away at you. Becuause my friend was a good, respectable and reliable friend, and a wonderful mother.
I love you girl Lashaun La' Shell Menefee - Smith. Gone but never for gotten. She is gone from the body but present with the Lord..

I had not seen Shaun in a very long time, but I always asked my cousin Michelle about her and the other family members. I was shocked when I heard about her death. Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for her children, her parents and her brothers as well as all of the other people who love her. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the funeral, but my prayers and thoughts continue. I am asking God to substain the family and carry them through this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to LaShaun's family. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 foretold that men would be without self control, fierce, without love of goodness in the critical times of the last days. We have hope for ones lost in death: Daniel 12:2: And there will be many of those asleep in the ground of dust who will wake up, these to indefinitely lasting life. Psalms 37:29: The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

Shaun has been my friend since we were 10, i was the first person she met when her family moved to Bellflower and we were close ever since. When you seen Shaun you knew Shawnna wasn't that far behind we were something else. Shaun was a very friendly person, she was loved and respected by a lot of people. My friend and I had not seen each other for 3 years and the night before she passed we had finally got to chat and hug, I guess we were saying our goodbyes. I love you girl and your family
U WILL ALWAYS B MISSED BY ME AND MINES
