I' am writing to express my anger against gang violence in Inglewood California this Thursday 9/13/07 I lost my beloved Nephew Manuel Aguilar a 19 year old adult, on his prime of life hood, to some unharted criminals right in front of his home he died on his fathers arms, this unhearted hood looms fired 20 shots of which 5 hit his wrestles body and unsatisfied monsters they still had a chance to get of the car and shoot him again close range, the streets in LA are not safe you just don't know how much fear our citizens live in on a day to day basis, It is devastating to see what Manny's mother and father has to go threw. Manny was a hard working loving son, nephew, brother and cousin, it makes me mad that this individuals just came over and took his precious live, some one needs to get off their comfortable chairs and stop this violence; there must be a way of keeping Guns away from our streets. I sense so much fear; I just can imagine why people who saw this horrific crime will never come forward. Paying Citizens of this Great State should not fear to speak out, Justice needs to be serve and this criminals need to be behind bars, and not in our street If God would grant me a wish, It would be for my nephews dead not to go unsolved or in a file and never seen or forgotten, though it looks like this will be another unsolved case, as I was going threw the Los Angeles Homicide web page it turns my stomach inside out to find out how many lives are lost to guns and gangs I just heard last night of a 23 day old baby who lost his precious life to this monsters I wish you could help and clean up LA, I happen to live in the city of Santa Ana County of Orange and I tell you "yes" we have violence though not as much as in LA My nephew fear for his live months before the shooting he talked to me about how unsafe it was specially around his area I' am asking for this homicide does net get left behind hour children should never be taken away from us by criminal hands I hope Manny’s life did not just go to waist and into a drop file that would never be seen again. I was a police officer, and this story is of interest to me because I grew up in Inglewood so I'm familiar with the city and the things that go on in that community. The majority of local police departments hire cops that have no experience in dealing with our people (minorities) so when they patrol the streets the make crucial mistakes such as this one. I hate to use the race card but a lot of these guys are mainly white officers that grew up in upscale communities like Torrance, Redondo Beach and they have no experience in dealing with the problems that arise in inner-city neighborhoods. You hire an officer that has no experience in dealing with gangs, and have no experience in effectively communicating with people but they get the jobs to police our communities. A police academy can't teach you these things, and that's why there is a need for officers that have this kind of experience. We'll use the L.A.P.D as an example, they told me that I wasn't a qualified applicant and never conducted a background investigation, but I went on to other departments and was hired. I conducted a study on hiring standards with the City of Los Angeles, and out of 100 or more recruits, only 2-3 black officers were hired. In every academy class that graduated, there is 0-1 black in each class so they find ways to weed us out of the selection process.
Funny because this in not the first time I hear this about LA PD. I have heard by an OC Gang Officer, that this is an on going issue with LA’s PD, This is an issue that should not be put aside it needs to be resolve we need more experience Officers whom we can trust our lives to and not Immature ones.
