what in the hell is going on in the jungle. This is absolutely crazy that the community is allowing this to happen, no one is raising a voice, where are your so called black leaders when you need them, they are just straight oppertunist, thats what they are.

Well that's a NORM in that part of Rampart/Wilshire Area! It was probably meant to HAPPEN!

I live a few apartments from and was acquainted with Elijah. He was a nice man - almost everyday I would see him either on my way to work or from and he always had a smile and a wave. A handsome and all around nice person. What the report does not state is that he was on his way to work when this tragedy occurred. It is sad, very sad and it breaks my heart each time a young person, not just in my neighborhood, is taken away by inhumane violence. Jesus please wash us in your blood and bring comfort to his wife, mother and those who are grieving and bring those responsible to justice.
Rest In Peace - Baby Boy - you will be missed!
Love Always, AG

Yes, the Jungle is a war zone! This is one of the most violent areas in America. In the months of July and August, there have been approximately 20 murders and a myriad of shootings. Baldwin Village (the Jungles) amazingly stays below the media radar. However, this area is inundated with drugs, gangs and other nefarious activities. The police and politician are hoodwinking this situation because it creates a plethora of jobs for authority and the crimes don't affect them personally. Also, this segment is not a voting community and there are serious social/economical constraints. The streets Pinafore, Stevely, and August encompass a multitude of unscrupulous activities on a daily basis but police visibility is miniscule. If their presence was ubiquitous on those streets, the murders would curtail.

The Black Leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are too busy trying to bring down white people like Don Imus and Michael Richards for their big mouths while trying to help out idiots like Michael Vick and Adam Jones who are criminals. I wish they would take a look at what is happening here. All of these murders are only statistcis to the rich "activists". It is a war zone here and they don't care. No one they know is getting gunned down so it means nothing to them.

I give my regards to this man's family. May he rest in peace

I can't explain how great the pain is to know that a loved one is gone never to be seen again! I personaly new Elijah for most of our lives. I went to elementary school with him all the way through to the last of his school days. We had many wonderful times together growing up until he moved to california and I moved to Wisconsin. I lost contact with him but heard he had married. I had plans to visit my family in cali with the hopes that I one day I could've seen him again. Now this tragedy occured and I ask myself why the good ones are always the first to go? I have faith that whoever is responsible will be punished because the way you take away someones life, thats the same way you'll leave this earth. Hell is here on earth and this is were we pay for our wrong doings. Elijah was one of the greatest persons I had ever known, I believe that he is watching down this very moment and he can see us grieving and he knows that his memories will always be in our hearts. His family in Belize are desperate because they can't have the body at home but a wake will be done tonight in his memory. I send my condolences to his wife, family and friends and want to say thanks to the good Lord for blessing us with the opportunity of having someone as sweet as Elijah in our lives at one point of time. Jah bless his soul. REST IN PEACE MY LOVE, You'll forever live in my heart. Will surely be missed.

This is so sad! I bury these victims. I'm in the death care
industry. I have to agree with B. Stevens. Where are the activists when we are killing each other. It's so sad! Bullets hurt a lot more than ignorant rhetoric! Imus is a jerk - no doubt! We need to stop the violence among us!

I was in a barbershop months ago. The gentleman cutting my hair was a wonderful man in his 80's from GA. He said he would never have imagined that we would ever have to be afraid of each other. When he was coming up we were worried about the Klan. We are killing more of us than the Klan ever did! He's right!

WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!!!I I'M FROM SANDIEGO I HAVE FAMILY IN COMPTON AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I'M GOING TO VISIT I'M TOO DAMN SCARED PEOPLE SHOULD BE MARCHING IN THE STREETS EVERYDAY OVER ALL THE KILLINGS THIS IS JUST CRAZY

R.I.P

i was born and raised in compton california, i never thought it would turn out to be this way, i lost my nephew the same way in eighty nine and i think that same year i went to about a hundred funerals in the next six months of young black men and i said to my self i can't do this any more, they were dropping like flu's, now kids are growing up fatherless and now there killing people for sport like there getting point's are money for it, i wonder how they sleep at night. it's like people are going by that code that dumb ass raper from new york stated in an interview about not telling if he saw a murder, if i seen some one be killed, i'm telling cause i would wont someone to tell if some one killed me are one of mine, did they find the murderer of my nephew, yes they did it took about a year for them to do it, but this one detective would not give up. he not only killed my nephew that day he killed the mother of three that had her three kids in the car holding a three week old in her arms when they drove by and shot my nephew in the head and the other bullet took of her face and shot another kid in the head but he survived thank god, but he wont ever be the same. how did they find them, some little old ladies they even went to court and told what happened so there are still good people in this cruel ass world, the sad thing is that the person that did that shooting was a friend of my nephew's and said that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, that dont help nothing, so we can be looking at the killer everyday and never know.

This is all so sad, what has happened to my CIty? Please pray, pray for the City Of Angeles. But first we must repent so God can heal our land. It is only in his blood we can be cleansed and set free of all this hatred and evil.

You are in a better place. I knew you for about 3--4 years and the whole time you were such a wonderful person. You always had a smile on your face and you were always walking your beloved dog. I miss you Gary. My condolences go to you and your family and I know that you are watching over them.....they are very lucky for that.....you will be their angel that watches over them and keeps them safe with the help of God. I will continue to pray for you and your family for it is hard not to be sad. I think about you every day, especially when I walk outside and go to the store and I do not see you. It was inevitable that I would see you every day when you were here.....that was just the way it was around here.....every-
body knows everybody around here and are used to seeing those people everyday, and when you do not see that person anymore then it becomes increasingly noticeable. I love you Gary and I will miss you. I will always think of you with wonderful thoughts. R.I.P. my friend.....LOVE ALWAYS
TRACEE ( MUIRFIELD)

My condolences to his family. California is going crazy right now with the murder game, and has been for some time. My three best friends were all from California. Two were from the Bay area, east Oakland to be exact and the other from LA, he grew up off of Rosecrans and Bullis. Within the last three months, my three best friends have been murdered at the hands of other black people. We need to stop this senseless killing. Reach one, teach one, we need to spread out and embrace. Forget the colors. We can spend all day dividing, why not take a minute to unite? Again my condolences go to Eligah Rhaburn's family. At least he is away from this murderous setting. Peace unto you and your family. Peace-
