Suspects arrested in Baldwin Village killing

LAPD South Bureau Dets. Corey Farell and John Skaggs have cleared the murder of Velton Gates, 19, left. Gates was shot at the entrance to an alley on Stevely Avenue in Baldwin Village July 27.

Charged with murder in the case are Troy Varnado, 29, a black man and former friend of Gates, who is accused of shooting him, and his alleged getaway driver, Brandi Holloway, 20, a black young woman.
