Post-beating hospital death; LAPD Harbor Division

Wilmington: Mario Magallon, 55, a Latino man, died of his injuries a month after being assaulted at 1347 W. Anaheim St. in Wilmington. He died at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center on Aug. 4, said LAPD Det. David Cortez. He had been beaten about 2 a.m. July 8 during a fight with other Latino men outside his house. A companion also was beaten.

Magallon went back into the house after the beating but sometime later suffered convulsions and was taken to the hospital. He never regained consciousness. As is often the case in such hospital deaths, Harbor detectives are catching up on the details of the assault. Anyone with information is asked to call (310) 522-2036.
