Above, this 8-month-old baby boy will grow up with out his father -- Raymond Estrada, 31, entry above, who was one of six people to die from homicide last weekend in Los Angeles County. The baby was sleeping inside only a few yards away when Estrada was shot on the front porch of this South-Central home. At at least one bullet went through the window over his head. Raymond Jr. is pictured here in the arms of his grandmother a few hours after the shooting. The comments below refer to homicides now summarized on the Coroner's list above.

Where is the mention of the young man who was murdered in the park in Long Beach? He was beaten to death by a group of young thugs...the mother of one of them drove the group to the park to find the victim. To me, this is a homicide, just the same as if there had been a knife or gun involved.

Thank god it was just a robber. When I drove by yoshinoya I was worried that one of the employees had been killed. The whole parking lot was blocked off and it looked like homicide detectives were there. Well done Gardena Police.
Thank you.

A job well done to the Gardena Police Dept. Thank you.

This shooting was reasonable and justified under the circumstances. How are the officers involved supposed to know it was not a real gun, you have to assume it is. Some are probably going to complain why they did not use a tazor or a bean bag weapon on the guy or why they didn't shoot him in the arm or leg. His actions led to his death.

wow is it just me or are these victims getting younger and younger 14, 15, 16 i mean this is ridiculous....do you notice a pattern its summertime no school nothing for kids to do, we need ALL of us to step in and make a difference

Since when is a robber caught in the act and killed a "homicide"? The definition of homicide is not a catch-all that is synonymous with "to be killed". Synonyms include "foul play, murder, slaying".

What will the family of the police who were doing their jobs think and feel when they read that the LA Times considers their police office relative to be a murderer? Or is the Times just trying to get a little summertime race rioting going for old times sake?

In the Daily Breeze they had more information about the deceased suspect. He was 24 years old and employed according to his mother at a family business. My question if he is employed, why is out at 6:00am robbing a fast food restuarant. Also, the mother said she will probably file a lawsuit because the police shot him more than one time in the chest, this is just unbelievable. She further added if he had not been black, they would have handled it differently. Moms in denial but, unfortuanately he committed a robbery with a fake gun and when confronted by police, he pointed at them as well and was shoot and killed. The police did not know the gun was a replica until afterwards.

The LAPD counts all unnatural deaths as homicides, whether it's in the line of duty or a civilan defending themselves.

I was on my morning walk when two Gardena Police cars pulled up on side of resturant parking in the street, I heard shots and ducked. I waited for more gun fire, there was none and I knew it was over. The officers headed to there trunks for the yellow tape. I walked and stood with a collected crowd and watch the medical team as they worked cutting away his clothes attempting to save his life. May God comfort the family & friends that loved him so, I was just a stranger who happen to be out for a walk but please know that someone was praying for your loved one. God Bless

I KNEW THE YOUNG MAN THAT WAS KILLED DURING THE ROBBERY OF THE YOSHINOYA IN GARDENA. HE WAS TRYING TO TURN HIS LIFE AROUND AND I CAN ONLY WONDER WHAT EVENTS PRIOR TO THIS LED HIM TO EVEN GO THRU WITH THIS PLAN. IT IS NOT A JOB WELL DONE BY GARDENA POLICE DEPT, WHY DO THEY (POLICE OFFICERS) ALWAYS WANT TO SHOOT TO KILL, THERE ARE OTHER WAYS THEY COULD HAVE PROTECTED THEMSELVES. I FEEL FOR HIS CHILDREN THAT ARE LEFT BEHIND, AND HAVE TO READ & HEAR ABOUT THIS AS I'M SURE THEIR FAMILIES WILL TELL THEM EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER TRAGEDY IN OUR SOCIETY.

NancyGee you are obviously the gullable one if you truly believe 100% of all officer kilings are justified and needed, have you not seen the news lately ? Now im not saying ALL cop killings are NOT justified because I'm sure most are, but some of the times they are preventable. If we had video all the time on cops I'm sure it will shock alot of us.
