Robert Hernandez Jr., 19, a young Latino man, was shot twice in the upper torso near the intersection of Loveland Street and Granger Avenue in Bell Gardens one minute before midnight and died at St. Francis hospital in Lynwood about half an hour later, early on Monday, June 25.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Biddle, Hernandez was attacked in the course of a fight over tagging involving two groups of young men, members of tagging crews. The fight escalated into a shooting. The suspect and his friends ran from the scene. Following an investigation, detectives arrested a suspect, a 17-year-old Latino youth, later that night at his house.
