The shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. after children had been released from school and left the area, police said.

Miguel Fernandez, a 19-year-old Latino from Santa Ana, who had been at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana since an April 15 shooting in the city, died Monday, April 23.
