Spurgeon McClendon, 19

Spurgeon McClendon, 19, a black man, was shot in the 1400 block of W. 28th Street, and died at 3:32 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25. McClendon was a passenger in a car traveling near USC when strangers in another car began following them.

After trailing McClendon's car a short distance, the suspects began firing. McClendon was hit. He died at California Hospital. Police said his assailants may have thought he was someone else. There is a $50,000 reward for help catching this killer. Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD's Southwest Division at (213) 485-6571.

I am the mother of Mr. Spurgeon Mcclendon III, and I often read about your postings, and updates sometimes, six months later, even as early as three months later, and yet knowone has ever contacted me for any update on how his younger brothera and I or any of his family is coping for that matter.

Is it a selected few or what? Just very curious. It has been a heart breaaking nine months, since the death of my son, again I have yet to be contacted.

i am so sorry for your loss i too lost my son ernest at age 18yrs old 3 days before his 19th birthday on vernon and western he to died at california hospital it is just so sad he was murdered on 10-2-06 you know people go on with their lives but we as moms we are stuck in a hole i feel your pain god bless you and your family you know i keep my sons memory alive by talking about him to his siblings we have so many funny memories these people dont know the hurt they cause when they do these ugly mean things i pray for your peace and solace it will come i too am waiting for that peace i just hope it comes before i literaly fall apart, god bless mom and your family

I am only one of Spurgeons cousins who is still grieving. If the person who did this to my cousin is reading this please know that GOD will make you pay for this.You know when you did this you not only killed my cousin you killed apart of me, not only me but his mother,his grandmother,his aunts,his uncles, and his other cousins,GOD says" DO NOT TOUCH and i repeat DO NOT TOUCH MY ANNOINTED".Spurgeon is gone to a better place,he has gone throuhg those pearly gates and received his crown of gold and his gift of ETERNAL LIFE. May God be the prosercuter of the ones who took the life of my sweet and joyful nephew. I`m Kathy his auntee from down in Louisiana.I am still trying to cope with this tradgy in my life. For the one who pulled the trigger,ask yourself this question.Am I God? Did you give Spurgeon McClendon life? So what gave you the right to take life from him. The bible plainly states that tho shall not kill. No man should take another mans life away from him. To my neice Tasha , his mom keep the faith and be strong and prayful God has your back.Weeping endureth the night but joy cometh in the morning. Believe me this crime has not gone unsolved.We have not had any updates from the law enforcements. It almost seems that it has been sweept under the rug. The family pleades to anyone out there who knows something about this untimely crime of our love one to please come forward with any information that you may have to help bring closeure for the family and justice to killers. I know this comment section is Spurgeon but I just want to leave a comment for Cheryl who lost her son Ernest back in 2006...if you read this Chery i want to let you knwo that I am a friend of Tasha your daughter since back at Manual and how sad and affected I was to hear that Ernest had been killed in cold blood...it really affected me to the point where i wrote a blog about it on my myspace page...i remember your little boy when he was just that a little kid...and although it doesnt happen as often as it should I was happy they caught those idiots that did it....to the family of Spurgeon I'm so sorry and very sick of all this...I will be 28 years old this year and never thought that i would make it to this age living in the "hood" i've lost so many friends and associates in the last 10 years that it can be depressing...something has to happen in our communtiy and this country for this madness to stop...we are robbing ourselves of our future and our place in this country and the world....Malcolm nor Dr.King fought so hard just to have us eradicate ourselves in the end....My black and hispanic brothers please stop this mess....it is exaclty what they want us to do...get us out of the way without getting their hands dirty...Peace and much love and respect to the memories of Spurgeon and Ernest.

Im shocked that so many months later i still think about my friend Deshon...me and so many others had high hopes for him and wished only the best for him...yes there has been other friends who i have loss to this nonsense but he is very *SPECIAL* which brings me to this site today because this is an important matter that i cant just shake off...we all want to know who did this because they should definitely pay...we never went to school or worked together...my family moved close by,he introduced himself, and although we moved years ago,me and Deshon remained close friends...Find out SUMTHIN cuz this is something we wont forget.
