Dont ya think its better to stop any flow of guns?? If every idiot is allowed to carry guns ya dont have to wonder about anything...
"the best democracy in world"... were everybody has the right to kill everybody? how civilized...
And the bible is no solution anyway, its mostly pornography & murder itself.
And obviously a reason for war, so damn it!!!

While I agree that there is a need for a spiritual path, (e.g. The Bible), too often those who "find" religion are often undereducated.

just wanted to say that it is a shame that tasha brown & her friend were murdered january 3,2007 that was uncalled for! I knew tasha personally she was a touch cookie i must say but also was the kindest woman u could ever meet! I mean she was the type to give u the shirt off her back ! she was my sister & brothers auntie & she will be missed by all who knew & loved her! her cousin lisa would want me to also say that who ever had the nerve to kill a woman in the same house as her children were in is a cword for real! & all this was done over gang violence! & to the people who did this horable thing your day is coming soon when the LORD will judge u for all you've done taking a beautiful black woman from her family friends and there is nothing to justify it ! R.I.P TASHA BROWN LUV ALWAYS KENYA & FAMILY!

I hate this stereotype answers... because I am... (whatever) I have no chance...
everybody has a chance... it is your choice what you do with your life... it is your choice if you join a gang... it is your choice if you take guns...
Sometime it might be not easy to stand up... but it take a charakter to stand up for it what you believe in...
It is really dramatic so many latinos and black people got killed... someone earlier posted... that no white people are in those hotspots... but that means also... latinos and blacks are killing each other...
what a world...
Everybody should read the bible... there is always a way...
and like I said... it is your choice...
In honor who are all killed... especially the little ones...

I am from germany.I live in the city with the highest crime rate.I am half american half german. It hurts me very much to see whats happening in the usa.
although my city is the one with the highest crime rate these are crimes not roughly tending into the same cruel direction like la's.We have a lot of thiefs and family tragedies but very less killed by gunshots. i was so much shocked about the fact that most of the killed people got shot down! is it that difficult to see the coherence of gun legality and shotdown people!? i know that we all feel more secure having something giving us a sense of protection. but guns are not protecting when they can legaly lie around at home and everyone has the possibility to shoot down a person that he has a social dispute with instead of trying to solve the problem by talking and thinking!!!God gave us the voice and the brain to use it.not to switch it on standby and doing bad things! Its our choice to change something! We all have a voice! And the mightiest arm of the human being is its voice not its gun!
R.I.P. all the innocent victims of thoughtless action!

I think the next reality show should be "THUG SWAP'.....maybe if these young people could see that we are all equal and we all have family trees with unique branches and our roots are very much the same. When people kill they not only take a branch off somebody else's family tree... they also destroy the quality and purity of their own! These kids should all know that the real victims are the family members left here, parents, grandparents, & siblings crying everyday in unbeleivable pain that will never go away.

That is why I left Los Angeles and I will never return. I hate death especially for the youth of this world, to read it is enough. I feel sorry for all the families that are suffering. You are all in my prayers.

even DNA shows that everybody goes back to one original DNA the was created along time ago therefore we are all from the same bloodline but every single one of us has a mutation that makes us different no race is better. gang members would go to war in iraq if they would let us but they wont, more people would fight for THEIR country if it were THEIR country, remember when countries would give land to people for helping them what about now, go buy land dont kill for it, and let us run our own country lets play by the law of the bible ooooooohhhhhh dont go there, the bible cant come near me but i cant get as close and change religion if i want to, your all crazy stop killing people pray for the end of the world not for big houses, pray for the anti christ to come not for money, pray for jesus to come back and save us, dont kill your brother we are all brothers.

Being brougth up in Los Angeles as a Chicano youth it is very, very dangerous. There are about 1,400 latino gangs in L.A., and maybe, maybe 5 or 6 gangs may get along. The rest hate each other and kill each other. It is not like black gangs were you have Bloods n Crips and for the most part, all bloods get along with bloods and all crips get along with crips. Latino gangs have been around since the 1920's and 30's. It is a tradition, a culture that is passed on by family members ever so often. There is a trend that is starting to happen here, and i see it on the streets. Latino gangs are starting to go after black gangs, and vice versa. Things are not only getting worse, it is also starting to segregate races. The real problem is happening in South Central all the way to the Harbor area, where is a mixture of blacks and hispanics. This is not going to stop. White people could give a crap about US minorities. When the problem starts spilling into Studio City, Encino, Northridge, Westwood, and Lancaster, thats when white people are gonna crap in their pants and realyze what this really is. Nowhere else in America do we have a gang problem as big as here in L.A. The reality is, keep getting used to all these killings because as you can see all these white collar-blue class people don't care about anyone but themselves.

Being a former LAPD officer I've been to more homicide scenes than I care to count. But seeing all these PEOPLE murdered is quite shocking, all these lives taken in a few short weeks. All these victims families devastated, in the blink of an eye. GOD bless the Victims and their Loved ones, and take vengeance on the ignorant murderers.

"We should put a bunch of white republicans in every comunity that has a gang problem
and see if domestic concerns suddenly become a priority"

That is a RACIST comment.......exactly why the races should be seperated. YOU think Divercity means....NO WHITE PEOPLE!
Your double standards will be tolerated no more. Sorry, No white republicans want to go where the savages are. Go ahead let New Orlands be chocolate again. Keep New Hampshire white!

Why are we killing each other? Why are you so upset when a police kills a gang member, you want to protest and riot well protest and riot when a gang member kills somebody if there is enough indignation then change can come.
Posted by: aaron | February 16, 2007 at 08:13 AM
SOME OF YOU PEOPLE NEED TO REMEMBER THAT GANGRELATED MURDERS ACCOUNT FOR LESS THEN 50% OF MURDERS IN LOS ANGELES.YES,GANGS ARE A HUGE PROBLEM,BUT THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM.WE NEED OTHER SOLUTIONS TO THIS CITYS HIGH MURDER RATE.ITS FUNNY HOW ITS ALWAYS THE WHITE PEOPLE WHO DONT LIVE ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEM AREAS THAT SUDJECT LOCKING UP ''ALL THESE GANGBANGERS''.

TO all pathetic gang-bangers,
Get a life... This stuff is getting really old..
You people have a self-image problem.
If you need to be in a 'set' named after a numered
street in order to feel adequate, you are pathetic..
You become a stereotype, you essentially take on a role
of a slave, you got a slave mentallity.
Killing people of your own ethnicity? or anyone for that matter
over presumed 'disrespect'. Giving each other silly kindergarden names
like 'goofy' and 'casper', etc. Saaad.
Yea, you got power to take a life, such a complex process, you really need a brain for that.
I always love the argument of ,"oh, weez just tryin to survive".
No fool, people in afghanistan are just trying to survive, people in the Sudan are just trying to survive, you are a self-depracating moron
that needs to justify his primitive nature.
This is sick.. it really is...

It's a shame that these so call'd 'street warriors' (gang-bangers),I call them 'cowards'; are too scared to go fight the war in Iraq. . but are quick to pick up a weapon to destroy the life of a person doing nothing more than walking down the 'street',or going to school,or working to support their family,or just being a different color,or walking on the wrong side of the street ! If I knew I could get awy with it ? I would put all theses 'cowards on a big island;with weapons(guns),and let them destroy eash other(last man standing). And then I would drop a bomb on the whole place. . and wipe out what was left of the whole 'damn mess' !
Posted by: Neo | February 13, 2007 at 06:25 AM
Guns do not kill people. People kill people. What you have is a culture of people that have nothing better to do. Jack, you make good points.... Impressions, appearance , but that would take change.
Posted by: Mike | February 12, 2007 at 12:29 AM
Wow, what a war zone. I know it's fun to paint Latinos and Blacks as the victims, but I'm almost 100% sure the shooters are of the same ethnicity.
Diversity is our strength!

THIS IS VERY WRONG,WE SHOULDNT BE LOOSING LIVES THIS WAY ESPECIALLY AT SUCH YOUNG AGES.IT IS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE HOW SO MUCH TRAGIC GOES ON AROUND US,AND INSTEAD OF MAKING THINGS BETTER WE ONLY MAKE IT WORSE
Posted by: maureen | February 11, 2007 at 01:50 AM
this whole war on terror thing is a bunch of bull We don't even have the force of will to control the terror in our own streets . We should put a bunch of white republicans in every comunity that has a gang problem
and see if domestic concerns suddenly become a priority

While reading this, I got a sick feel in my stomach. Please make peace, please love each other, please have respect and honor. Remember, we all look different, which makes us all special, but when it comes down to it, we all bleed red.
Parents, if you suspect something wrong with your child, take action right away. Don't make excuses. Turn them in. You are only making things worse.

I agree that this is a great way of remembering and honoring those who have died- it is a way to keep their memory alive and at the same time make the public aware that we have a problem that needs immediate attention. However, I am curious to know why the writer found it necessary to comment on the race of each person. Does it matter if they were "a black male" or a "latino female?" They were all human beings whose lives ended too early. Also, who was ignorant enough to comment that LA has a bigger problem than South Africa? Do you seriously believe that? Sadly, with the mass genocide and lack of government participation, S.A is experiencing death toll numbers that we cannot even imagine.

Thank you for maintaining this list. I think anything which memorializes a life lost is of value. Lives should not be easily forgotten.

I AM AN AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE AND LIVE D IN CALIFORNIA FOR 12 YEARS. WE SHOULD TAKE THESE TROOPS IN IRAQ AND COME TO CALIFORNIA, CHICAGO , NEWYORK AND FIGHT THE WAR WE HAVE GOING ON AT HOME!

I would urge young adults who are not in gangs to dress in clothes that will prevent them from being mistaken for gangs. I suggest a nice white shirt, dark slacks, and a tie. Get a conservative hair cut, but no shaved heads.
Posted by: Jack | February 06, 2007 at 05:21 PM
OH MY GOD ! THIS IS SO HORRIBLE I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY YOUNG LATINOS & AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUNG PEOPLE DIE EACH DAY IT'S TERRIBLE, WHERE ARE THEY GETTING ALL THOSE GUNS.
MAYBE THEY SHOULD SEND ALL THOSE GANGSTERS TO IRAQ TO FIGHT.

Every day more tragedies. When will it ever end?
Where are all these guns coming from? Are all the law enforcement agencies tracing the guns to see if there are patterns of illegal gun sales.
The best violence prevention is to stop the flow of guns into impoverished communities where most of the homicides take place.
